- Lowered lake levels caused by groundwater depletion by adjacent agricultural wells
- Herbicide and pesticide drift and runoff
- Alteration of habitat from sediment and nutrient runoff from adjacent residential lawns
- Heavy recreational use of the plant’s shoreline habitat, including driving on the shoreline
- Trampling of plants by people and dogs
- Competition from invasive non-native plants
