The RMRS Raster Utility is an object oriented coding library that facilitates a wide range of spatial and statistical analyses using novel statistical methods in a newly developed Function Modeling framework.

Raster modeling is an integral component of spatial analysis. However, conventional raster modeling techniques can require a substantial amount of processing time and storage space and have limited types of statistical and machine learning algorithms. To address this issue, we developed a new modeling framework using C# and ArcObjects and integrated that framework with .Net numeric libraries to streamline the raster modeling process and facilitate predictive modeling and statistical inference. Our findings indicate that our modeling framework, Function Modeling, significantly reduces processing time and storage space associated with spatial analysis. This work includes:

  1. New tools for spatial and statistical analysis

  2. Readily available, easy to use, free, GIS software add-in

  3. Website describing software functionality and applications

  4. Code repository for others to integrate into their work

  5. Tutorials and sample analyses
