Region 4 Science Partner Program: Characterizing and conserving groundwater dependent ecosystems

This project is an interdisciplinary working group focused on collecting, documenting, exchanging, and archiving information about R4 groundwater-dependent ecosystems (GDEs), particularly springs and wetlands.Current partners include Kate Dwire (RMRS), John Proctor (R4 Botanist), Mark Muir (R4 Hydrologist), Cynthia Tait (R4 Aquatic Program Manager), and Jeff Bruggink (R4 Soil Scientist).

Region 4 Science Partner Program: Developing mesocarnivore models across multiple regions

Mesocarnivores are species with diets consisting mainly of small prey and supplemented with fruits and/or fungi. RMRS scientists are partnering with the Bridger-Teton National Forest (BTNF) and other Forest Service regions to create a detailed model of rare mesocarnivores across multiple regions. This project will primarily survey for highly elusive species such as Canada lynx, fishers, and wolverines within the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystems.

Lake and bulk sampling chemistry, NADP, and IMPROVE air quality data analysis on the Bridger-Teton National Forest (USFS Region 4)

Air quality monitoring data from several programs in and around the Bridger-Teton (B-T) National Forest - National Atmospheric Deposition Program (NADP), longterm lake monitoring, long-term bulk precipitation monitoring (both snow and rain), and Interagency Monitoring of Protected Visual Environments (IMPROVE) - were analyzed in this report. Trends were analyzed using non-parametric tests and seasonality was taken into account when possible.
