We are using genetic tools to clarify the identity and relationships among species. These include phylogenetic trees based on genetic sequences. Updated trees will be posted as more specimens are sequenced.
Distrubution of Potential Conservation Units
Colored dots indicate potential conservation units—subspecies, ESUs, DPSs, stocks, or species new to science—of sculpins in the Northern Rockies of western Montana and Idaho. Different colors indicate that these conservation units differ by at least 1.5—2.0% from all other groups, based on genetic distances. Boxed text indicates a group of particular interest.
