The Science and Future of i-Tree
May 13, 2015

David Nowak, USDA Forest Service

i-Tree is a suite of tools designed to aid managers in assessing the structure, services, and values derived from their local trees and forests. Since its release in 2006, there have been over 30,000 users of i-Tree in 118 countries. The program has grown substantially since its original release, incorporating new modules and science. In the first part of this webinar, David Nowak will discuss the science behind the various modules and the challenges of incorporating science into a management-based model. In addition to describing the science of each i-Tree tool, he will address the uncertainty associated with the various estimates. In the second part of his presentation, David will share the latest tools and developments that will be released in 2015 and the coming years. This webinar will feature two brief Q&A sessions with the speaker, one at the end of each part of the webinar.
