Climate Change Adaptation

Disturbed landscapes may be vulnerable to invasive species

Disturbed landscapes such as this one may be vulnerable to invasive species

As land managers plan to regenerate stands, they want to incorporate climate change into their considerations. The uncertainty of predictions makes this difficult. Tools are being produced to help land managers predict impacts of climate change at the landscape scale. After harvesting or natural disturbance, invasive species can impact the options of what should be planted, or what natural regeneration will occur. Invasive plants are frequently early colonizers of disturbed sites.
