Resource Monitoring and Assessment includes the Pacific Northwest unit of Forest Inventory and Analysis (FIA), a national program that collects data on all public and private forests. Forest Inventory and Analysis collects, analyzes, reports, and distributes forest inventory data from field plots spaced at 3.4 mile intervals across the entire Nation. Resource Monitoring and Assessment expands beyond the traditional scope of FIA to develop techniques and applications of inventory and monitoring information to address current issues in land management, both regionally and nationally.
