Mary Gillespie, range program manager for the Blanco Ranger District on White River National Forest, received an award from Environment for the Americas for her efforts over the past 15 years to organize an annual program for local children to celebrate International Migratory Bird Day.

Environment for the Americas also recognizes Gillespie in Washington, D.C., May 31. In addition, the local Chamber of Commerce named Gillespie citizen of the month for June. The town of Meeker will recognize her dedication to local students and International Migratory Bird Day.
