MICHIGAN – Carol Waite, Forest Surveyor for the Huron-Manistee National Forests, was named the 2017 Member of the Year by the Michigan Society of Professional Surveyors.
Known for her relentless drive to maintain professionalism and currency in the world of surveying, Waite is the current chair of the MSPS Annual Meeting Committee, editor of the award-winning professional publication, The Michigan Surveyor, former executive board member, former chair of the Communications Committee, and active member of the Northern Chapter.
Throughout her 19 years of membership, Carol has donated countless hours of personal time to advance the goals of surveying through her passion for detail, ensuring MSPS members remain engaged and receive the highest value for their membership. Besides leading the MSPS Communication Committee to their award-winning publication status, Waite regularly updates and maintains the organization’s website and blog which provides a forum for members to interact on topics current to the surveying profession.
Additionally, Waite spearheaded a project with university surveying students in the collection of survey information and land title issues. Data was cataloged in the form of Michigan Legislative and Administrative Laws, Michigan Attorney General Opinions, and Michigan Common Law for easy reference on the MSPS website, a valuable resource and member benefit
