Awards recognition for National Grants and Agreements trainees

WASHINGTON, DC – On March 19 - 22, the Acquisition Management National Grants and Agreements trainees met in Washington, DC to complete their final required G&A training course and participate in an awards ceremony celebrating their accomplishments. Some of the speakers  at the award ceremony included Acting Deputy Chief of Business Operations, Robert Velasco; Acting Deputy Chief, Lenise Lago; and, Interim Chief, Vicki Christiansen.

The Acquisition Management National Grants and Agreements trainee program, launched in 2015, hired entry-level trainees to fill known vacancies within the AQM workforce in the next 4-5 years. National level funding provided a consistent funding source and placed trainees where they are most needed. They are located in 8 Units in 12 duty locations across the Forest Service. Units fostered a family learning environment for their participants by selecting their trainee and “home growing them.” The G&A trainee group represents a model for community. Trainees share learning goals, foment teamwork and reach across boundaries to promote a collaborative network environment. All twelve Trainees attained their Level I G&A Certification and eight have been reassigned to their home units as journeyman Grants Management Specialists. The remaining four will be reassigned by November 2019.
