Lolo Peak Fire Learning Report released

MONTANA — USDA Forest Service is releasing the final Lolo Peak Fire Learning Review Report, an account of the tragic events that occurred on August 2, 2017, when Brent Witham, a member of the Vista Grande Interagency Hotshot Crew, was killed by a falling tree while conducting felling operations to prepare a fire line for potential burnout operations on the Lolo Peak Fire in Western Montana. The primary objective in developing and releasing the report and related documents is to promote dialogue and learning to reduce the likelihood of serious incidents in the future. The report can be found on the Wildland Fire Lessons Learned website.
