Disaster Assistance Support Program: Call for Applications – Detailer Orientation 2019

Header: DASP

The 2019 Disaster Assistance Support Program orientation application is now available. The orientation will be held in Tucson, Arizona, from October 23-24.

The deadline for this application is 5:00 PM (EST), September 6, 2019. All selections and notifications will be announced via email directly to the individual by Friday, September 20, 2019.

The USDA Forest Service’s Office of International Programs will offer one 16-hour orientation course to introduce USDA Forest Service, Bureau of Land Management and National Parks Service personnel to the DASP and its partnership with the U.S. Agency for International Development’s Office of U.S Foreign Disaster Assistance. The session will also provide an introduction to the response options exercised by USAID/OFDA to support disaster-affected countries.

DASP was created in 1985 to provide the U.S. Agency for International Development, Bureau for Democracy, Conflict and Humanitarian Assistance, Office of U.S. Foreign Disaster Assistance with technical support in disaster response, management, planning, operations and disaster risk reduction.

Click on the links at the end of this message to download the orientation application and accompanying enclosures. Please read the entire application package, especially the Applicant Requirements section, to ensure candidates qualify for this orientation. Any incomplete, partial or "group" applications will not be accepted. DASP generally receives many more applications than we have space for candidates. Among other factors, DASP uses the quality of the applications to select candidates for this course. If you have applied to this announcement in the past, we highly encourage you to do so again, as the need for detailers with evolving, multi-faceted experiences and skills continues to grow.

Qualifying candidates should complete the application in its entirety. Applicants should e-mail their completed application forms and resumes to: DASPdpc@usaid.gov. Write the following text in the subject line of the e-mail: 2019 Orientation to the DASP Application. DASPdpc@usaid.gov will confirm receipt of all applications received. If you do not receive this confirmation within 24 hours, send a follow-up email to ensure we have indeed received your application.

Share this information with any permanent USDA Forest Service, Bureau of Land Management and National Parks Service colleagues who you think would be interested in this program. Unfortunately, the program is not available to others outside of these particular agencies.

If you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact us at DASPDPC@usaid.gov. Thank you for your continued support for the Disaster Assistance Support Program and its work with the USAID Office of U.S. Foreign Disaster Assistance.
