CIO: Pinyon – Documents not opening in Box

An error is preventing some users from opening documents in Box. Attempting to open a document results in the message below to Install Box Tools. Do not install Box Tools. The feature impacted is the ability to Open, Edit and Save directly into Box. The CIO has isolated the issue to those involved in an IE security settings pilot.

What you need to do

Do not install Box Tools as this will not fix the issue. The workarounds for now are:

1.     Use Box Drive (install instructions here),

2.     Install and use the Chrome browser by following instructions in KBA00109115: How to Install Chrome when not available in Software Center, or

3.     Download, Edit, and Upload a document instead of using Open.
