Kaibab NF, interpretive association celebrate 30-year partnership

ARIZONA—On Sept. 28, 2019, the Public Lands Interpretive Association/Southwest Recreation partnered with the Kaibab National Forest for a national day of service projects on public lands. The event took place at Kaibab Lake Campground on the Williams Ranger District, and it included an introduction to National Public Lands Day history and the value of public lands, as well as an expression of appreciation for public land employees from the Kaibab National Forest.

The forest and its employees are grateful to the public for attending National Public Lands Day this year at Kaibab Lake campground. Volunteers helped pull weeds, prepare an area for a pollinator garden and native plants, and picked up fishing line and trash along the lake shore. They also took advantage of educational activities presented about the forest.

Public Lands Interpretive Association and Kaibab National Forest took advantage of the day to celebrate a 30-year partnership that helps keep forest campgrounds the best they can be so everyone can enjoy them. The association presented Williams Ranger District employees with a wooden plaque expressing appreciation for all the work the two groups have done together. Forest employees Debra Mollet and Dutch Maatman were on hand to accept the award from the association as well as to assist with service projects.
