WASHINGTON, DC—From October 10-12, the Forest Products Modernization team and the National Forest Foundation held three regional partner feedback sessions to discuss how the Forest Service can streamline its business practices to strengthen forest restoration efforts and improve the delivery of forest products. During each three-hour virtual session, the Forest Service team shared preliminary solution ideas and actions underway related to timber sale contracting and permitting, appraisals, sale layout and scaling and accountability, among other topics.
The sessions were a repeat of a national partner session held on September 11th in Washington, DC, but allowed for in-person participation at several FS units to facilitate dialogue between regional FS staff and timber sale operators, stewardship contractors and other partners on issues specific to their region. Transcripts and recordings of each feedback session will be posted on the National Forest Foundation site.
The FPM team will also be holding two internal webinars for employees on October 24th and November 8th to collect feedback on the Forest Products Modernization effort. More information can be found on the Forest Products Modernization SharePoint site.
