A new, interactive Story Map, developed by Stephanie Laseter, Southern Research Station Experimental Forest Network lead and biological scientist, and AJ Beck, Northern Research Station, highlights Southern Research Station experimental forests. The map highlights experimental forests locations, sizes, points of contact, current and historical research, partner forests and scenarios from the Southern Forest Futures Project. The site also includes links to further information.

Southern Research Station maintains 19 experimental forests. Several of the experimental forests were specifically selected based on location and their potential to demonstrate the rehabilitation of lands and resources depleted by early European settlers. Research studies, experiments and demonstration projects include stand management and regeneration, restoration of wildlife and plant populations, watershed management and the effects of pollution, climate change, and timber harvest.

Additional Story Maps are being developed for individual sites. Updates will be added to the final tab once available. For more information, contact Stephanie Laseter.
