China may learn from Grey Towers’ experience

Earlier this month, Yu Wei, a Ph.D. student from Beijing Forestry University, China, and a visiting scholar with the University of Illinois at Springfield, visited with the U.S. Forest Service at Grey Towers National Historic Site to learn about the history of the agency and how national forests are managed today.

Her observations at Grey Towers and at nearby Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area will provide the foundation for her recommendations to the Chinese government
in support of establishing a national park system, particularly the need to balance conservation and preservation with the urgent demands for use by a large population as they explore options for ecosystem management and sustainability.
