WASHINGTON, D.C. – Mark your calendars for September 28 as we celebrate “Connecting to Nature through Service” on National Public Lands Day. If you are able to host at least 100 participants on September 28, you have a chance to be selected as one of 30 highlighted sites for National Public Lands Day. Deadline to register to be a highlighted site is July 17, so apply now.

National Public Lands Day is the single largest volunteer event on America’s Public Lands. It is also a signature event for the National Environmental Education Foundation. Even though National Public Lands Day falls on the last Saturday of September, events take place weeks before and after. This year, those dates start on September 14 and go through October 12.

Highlighted sites aside, any federal, state or local public lands can host a recreation, education or service event on National Public Lands Day. All you have to do is register at the NEEF website.

Each NPLD Highlighted Site receives a sponsorship package which includes:

  • $500 stipend for any supplies, tools or transportation services that are needed for the event
  • 1 NPLD event tablecloth
  • 1 NPLD event banner
  • 150 NPLD Water Bottles
  • 150 NPLD Sunglasses
  • High-level marketing and communications support

Since this is a competitive process, the chances of being selected may increase if you include one of the non-profit NPLD partners listed below in your event:
