Management Efficiency Assessments  

Topic: In 2006, Department of the Interior (DOI) and the US Forest Service began jointly assessing various aspects of the wildland fire management programs, under direction from the Office of Management and Budget. They executed a six-year program at a cost of approximately 5 million dollars and produced an estimated annual cost avoidance of 50 to 90 million dollars through implementing recommended program efficiencies.
