This Electrical Design, Operation, and maintenance manaul is a compilation of basic references for electrical engineering tasks in buildings, water and sewage systems commonly encountered in projects. It is a basic reference and not intended to deal with large complex electrical engineering systems or projects. Professional advice is needed for those types of projects. These references are from industry publications and documents written for internal design use. This manual has been udated for current publications, but may contain some older reference information. Current NEC should be followed in any design. The original manual was written in 1983 with help from Jack Snyder Electrical Technician and Jim Zimmerman Electrical Engineer in R6.     Three phase panel spreadsheets to calculate branch circuit loads 42 circuit one for 208v 3phase and one for 480V 3 pahse, and one for single phase. These can do the load balancing calculations, and the layout and then you can insert them into an autocad drawing for a panel directory.

    VOLTAGE DROP SPREADSHEET This spreadsheet will calculate the voltage drop in any feeder or branch circuit or single or three phase systems. You need to know the conductor type, copper or aluminum, the size #12, - 750MCM and weather the conductors are in magnetic (steel) or nonmagnetic (plastic) conduit and the one way length of the circuit and the load in amps or KVA. The spreadsheet lets you calculate the accumulated loads in a distribution system as in a campground feeder, or in just one run. This needs to be figured for runs greater than 100 ft. normally. This spreadsheet has the impedance tables of common sizes of copper and aluminum conductors in magnetic and nonmagnetic couduits. This allows you to copy the wire impedance and paste it into the cells with out other references

    This spreadsheet calculated the short circuit fault current in single and three pahse systems. This calculation should be done in all new or retrfit faciltiies where new circuit breakers are being added, a new service or an increase in the transformer size from a utility. It a good check on all facilities as many of our buildings have had increases in service and have not had fault calculations done.

    This spreadsheet calculates interior illumination via the Zonal Cavity Method. in order to use this you need the fixture cutsheets with the photometric data from the manufacturer or the R6 standard cutsheets with this data, the reflectances of the wall, ceiling and floor surfaces, the design illunmination level from the OR and WA energy code. Usually 50 FC for offices, 30 for warehouse 20 for storage, but check your usage and building classification to determine this.
