I wish each of you and all of your families the very best this Thanksgiving. It’s that time of year when we gather together to give thanks, enjoy fellowship with family and friends, and enjoy a special meal together.
I am very thankful and blessed to be part of the Forest Service family and all of the work we do, day in and day out, to sustain the health, diversity and productivity of the nation’s forests and grasslands for present and future generations. I’m also very grateful for all of the teaching, mentoring and support that I’ve had from Forest Service employees through my entire career. I want every employee, no matter what their role is, to receive that same support in each and every job.
I want to thank each of you for your service to the nation and the contributions that you make to provide the many benefits that people need from their forests and grasslands. Because of your hard work, along with the support of our many partners, cooperators and volunteers, we provide millions with clean air, drinking water, and recreation and outdoor experiences. We provide products from our forests and rangelands, mineral and energy resources, and quality habitat for fish and wildlife. You share knowledge as well and support scientific communities, state agencies, and private forest owners and tribes. So, thank you again for all you do to deliver our mission that is depended on by millions of Americans today and will be so vital for future generations.
This holiday weekend also brings with it increased risks. Please remember to be safe, maintain situational awareness and take the necessary precautions in all of your activities. Let’s continue the Safety Journey together and return to work refreshed and ready to take on new challenges and opportunities.
Thank you again for being a part of the Forest Service family and mission and I wish all of you, your families and friends a safe and wonderful Thanksgiving.
