WWETAC Wildland Threat Mapping (WTM) Applications
A group of map services published by WWETAC and associated client applications designed for the end-user
to view and evaluate wildland threats in relation to highly valued resources (wildlife habitat,
power lines, recreation sites, etc.). These services are collectively referred to as WETAG - Wildland Environmental
Threat Assessment GeoService. Client applications range in functionality from a simple
geobrowser (requires only a web browser) to ArcGIS ArcMap, a full-feature GIS software platform that allows the
user to integrate their own data and create map layouts.

Map services and client applications have been developed to focus on specific wildland threat/natural resource issues, and/or specific geographic areas.
WTM - Region 6 Aerial Detection Survey Data Review Mapper
Intersecting wildland threat spatial data can provide meaningful information to policymakers, but doing so in a valid manner is critical. This map presents intersected threat data for the Northwestern US developed using a novel neighborhood analysis technique. Future research will extend these methods to the conterminous US.
WTM - Western Wildfire Risk Explorer
Annual aerial surveys are conducted throughout forested areas of the US to map insect and disease outbreaks. In Region 6 (OR/WA), local specialists review the detected damage mapped by the regional surveyors and provide feedback to improve the final dataset. This application displays the current Aerial Detection Survey (ADS) data within 10 days of collection, giving field pathologists, entomologists, and silviculturists a timely look at detected damage for their area.
WTM - Seed Zone Mapper
The Western Wildfire Risk Explorer (WWRE) application summarizes burn probability and conditional flame length by subwatershed level for western US national forests (west of 100th meridian). Tabular reports of mean burn probablity and flame length by watershed are available for all western US national forests.
WTM - WestWide Climate Change Mapper
Selection of seed sources that are well adapted to a specific site is essential in restoration projects. Using climate data and Common Garden Studies, seed zones have been developed to help in the selection of site adapted seed sources. WTM - OR/WA Cumulative Mortality Mapper
Climate change data models typically use global atmospheric circulation models and other inputs that limit their spatial resolution, making these products difficult to interepret at larger scales. To address this issue, global climate change data have been downscaled by the Climate Impacts Group. These downscaled products are 5 km in resolution and are presented in a geobrowser with the WETAG services. Click the above link for more info and to access the geobrowser.
Annual aerial surveys are conducted over all forested lands in the US and the data collected are used in a variety of formats to support management activities and in monitoring forest health. USFS Region 6 (OR and WA) have developed a product that summarizes the tree mortality recorded by the aerial surveyors in five year increments.
