- Small population size and restricted range
- Habitat loss through land use practices that significantly transform riparian forest communities and alter stream quality and dynamics, such as dredging, ditching, channelization, road construction, and off-road vehicles
- Additional threats include timber removal, mining, feral hogs, beaver dams, and plant collection
