Habitat for this plant is in protected rock crevices above 3500 meters elevation. Its known geographic range is approximately 100 square miles in the high southern Sierra Nevada. Photo by Kathleen Nelson.

Threats
- This alpine endemic is only known from about 4 to 5 sites in the southern Sierra of California (in three counties). There may be no threats beyond global warming and small population size. All known sites are on public lands and may receive some protection from that.
