Apache buckwheat habitat.
Apache wild buckwheat grows on white powdery gypseous limestone soils formed from Tertiary lakebed deposits. These soils, which are found in several disjunct locations in central Arizona, are home to a whole group of rare plants. Photo by Sue Rutman in Arizona Rare Plant Field Guide, 2001.
