Rare Plants of the 

Wasatch-Cache National Forest

The Wasatch-Cache National Forest is responsible for maintaining the viability of populations of a variety of rare plant species.  These include the Maguires primrose (Primula maguirei), Federally listed as a threatened species, several plants on the Intermountain Region Forest Service Sensitive Species List, as well as other rare plant of northern Utah.  

The following rare plants are known to occur on the Wasatch-Cache National Forest.

* Draba burkei (Burkes draba) has only recently been identified at the species level and has not been formally described.  It is currently being separated from Draba maguirei (Maguires draba) based on genetic studies done at the University of Utah by Dr. Michael Windham.
