Randy has been the recipient of numerous awards for performance, leadership, and planning including recognition by the Chief as a Point Of Light for the Forest Service.

Experience:

Randy has 38 years experience with the Forest Service in fire suppression and fuels management. He started his career with the Sequoia National Forest in 1972 in fire suppression. Randy has worked for the California Division of Forestry, Sequoia National Forest, and Modoc National Forest. During his tenure with TEAMS, Randy has worked in seven states and four regions providing input on vegetation management, fire/fuel reduction projects, and Forest planning. Randy has extensive experience in community collaboration and multi-agency project coordination. Additionally, he has helped develop Fire Management Plans for the Forest Service and the Air Force.

Randy has held positions as forest fuels staff officer, district fire, fuels management officer, crew leader, helicopter manager and other fire suppression positions. Randy’s most recent position prior to TEAMS was on the Modoc National Forest as assistant forest fire management officer (fuels/ecology division).

Randy has served on National Type 1 incident command teams as air operations branch director trainee, air support group supervisor, and division supervisor. Special assignments have also included working with incident command teams responsible for overseeing assistance and relief operations working with FEMA during the Hurricane Katrina disaster in 2005.

Randy has been with TEAMS since 2002. 

Randy retired in January 2009 and is currently working as a contractor for MBV Native American Veterans Incorporation as a Fire/Fuels Specialist.
