About TEAMS Enterprise Unit

In the spirit of those who introduced the Forest Service to "intraprise" (yes, that is correct, intraprise), TEAMS Enterprise Unit is an independent, financially self-sustaining entity, funded by the customers we serve. TEAMS’ reputation is evident through its returning customers.

TEAMS started out as a very small group of timber and forestry experts. The acronym "T.E.A.M.S." originally meant: Timber Measurement and Marking Services. Today TEAMS name has evolved to cover a number of services. Today's TEAMS is a multi-facetted organization offering a wide variety of natural resource services to our Agency and to other government partners.

More than 90 percent of our business is from our partners who return to TEAMS because they know we will get the job done.

We accomplish projects in short timeframes because we are focused solely on your project! Sometimes we finish in just a couple of days!

There is no need to hire additional staff, incur training, or additional administrative costs. You pay only for the work completed.

Streamlined work orders allow work to begin much faster than going through a cumbersome contracting process.

What’s more, our work orders allow our partners to obligate funds into the following fiscal year!

Read About Our Roots

The Origins of Enterprise by Gifford Pinchot III

Excerpt-The Enterprise Team System began in 1994, when John Phipps, then the manager of the El Dorado National Forest, read The End of Bureaucracy and the Rise of the Intelligent Organization and invited the authors, my wife Libba and me [Gifford Pinchot III, great grandson of the first Forest Service Chief], to join the team that was reinventing the Forest Service. The team produced a report recommending a well regulated internal market for intrapreneurial services within the agency. Libba and I were thrilled. We had created free intraprise to liberate employees to bring their whole selves including their values to work. We believed we were on the verge of liberating employees everywhere. Visit www.pinchot.com for more about Gifford Pinchot III and his work.
