Willbee, Martha . 2007. Fiberglass Shell Covers for Picnic Table Tops and Benches. 0723 1302P. San Dimas, CA: U.S. Department of Agriculture, Forest Service, San Dimas Technology and Development Center. 2 p.
Some years ago, forests purchased fiberglass shell covers for picnic table tops and benches. They were used to cover worn, used, or unpainted tables. The original manufacturer was Dentin Manufacturing Company in Garden Grove, California. This information was originally published in a July 1975 Tech Tip from the San Dimas Technology and Development Center in San Dimas, California.
There has been renewed interest in using this product. Today, these covers are still available. Some forests are putting these covers on new tables to protect and extend the life of wood table tops and seats and reduce maintenance. These covers also are more sanitary and easier for the forests to keep clean.
