The FRCC is an appointed Federal Advisory committee to the Secretary of Agriculture on private forest conservation, with specific focus of owners of non-industrial private forest land. This FRCC was authorized in the Food, Conservation, and Energy Act of 2008 to provide direction and coordination of actions within the USDA, and coordination with State agencies and the private sector to effectively address the national priorities for private forest conservation.
The Department of Agriculture seeks nominations for the Forest Resource Coordinating Committee. Vacancies include a representative for the State Foresters category representing the Southern States and a representatives for the Forest Industry category representing anywhere in the United States. Each will be appointed by the Secretary to a 3-year term. Only hard-copy nominations “received” (not just postmarked) by February 12, 2014, will be considered. Facsimiles and e-mail submissions will not be accepted. The next Forest Resource Coordinating Committee will be held on February 6-7, 2014 at the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Whitten Building, located at 1400 Independence Ave., S.W., Washington, D.C. in room 108-A. Public participants are encouraged to RVSP to facilitate entry into the building.
