Formal agreements are required for vehicle sharing. In addition, a cost/benefit analysis must be completed and reimbursable job code set up. Specific requirements to be included in the agreement are outlined in the USDA and FS regulations below:
- Agreement Requirements (from Agriculture Property Management Regulations, Chapter 110-34 Vehicle Management)
- Operator Requirements (from FS Handbook 7109.19, Chapter 60)

Increased efficiency and improved customer service are among the reasons agencies agree to share staff positions. Often these positions arise from informal arrangements. When an employee is designated to be a shared staff for a particular function, the agencies must formalize the arrangement. More
