RMRS Science Application and Integration (SA&I) facilitates the delivery and application of research the Station produces under the National Fire Plan (NFP). SA&I initiated the development of a series of 10 briefing papers to describe NFP research studies to potential users. The following 2-page briefing papers present ongoing research study techniques, preliminary findings, and management implications:
- Making modeling techniques more accessible to managers with recommendations on model use and interpretation, Samuel Cushman, RMRS Southwest Forest Science Complex, Flagstaff, AZ
- Wildfire Effects on Erosion and Stream Water, Bill Elliot, RMRS Forestry Sciences Laboratory, Moscow, ID
- Fire and Fuel in the Bosques of New Mexico, Deborah Finch, RMRS Forestry Sciences Laboratory, Albuquerque, NM
- Fuel Management and the Post-Fire Environment, Theresa Jain, RMRS Forestry Sciences Laboratory, Moscow, ID
- OptFuels: Fuel Treatment Optimization, Greg Jones, RMRS Forestry Sciences Laboratory, Missoula, MT
- Spatial Variability of Wildland Fuel, Bob Keane, RMRS Fire Sciences Laboratory, Missoula, MT
- Wilderness and Wildfire, Carol Miller, RMRS Aldo Leopold Wilderness Institute, Missoula, MT
- Perspectives on Risk in the Wildland-Urban Interface, Carol Raish, RMRS Forestry Sciences Laboratory, Albuquerque, NM
- Birds and Fire, Vicki Saab, RMRS Forestry Sciences Laboratory, Bozeman, MT
- Community Capacity: Adapting to Wildfire Risk, Daniel R. Williams, Rocky Mountain Research Station, Fort Collins, CO
