System-level strategies for conserving
rare or little-known species
Marcot, Bruce G.; Sieg, Carolyn Hull. 2007. System-level strategies for conserving rare or little-known species. In: Raphael, Martin G.; Molina, Randy, eds. Conservation of rare or little-known species: Biological, social, and economic considerations. Washington, DC: Island Press: 156-186.
In this chapter we review the literature on system-level strategies for conserving rare or little-known (RLK) species, continuing from the species-level approaches addressed in the previous chapter. We define system-level approaches as those that result in conservation actions focused on providing for community or ecosystem composition, structure, or function.
Keywords: rare or little-known (RLK), conservation
