Dr. E. Durant McArthur

E. Durant McArthur, Project leader and research geneticist, was born in Hurricane, Utah on March 12, 1941.  Earned Associate in Science degree (with honors) at Dixie College, St. George, UT in 1963, B.S. in Molecular and Genetic Biology (cum laude) in 1965, M. S. in Molecular and Genetic Biology with Botany minor in 1967, and Ph. D. in biology (plant genetics) in 1970 at the University of Utah (Cytogenetics and evolution of Mimulus).  He completed a postdoctoral research stint at the University of Leeds, United Kingdom, 1970-1971, on the cytogenetics of domesticated and wild Brassiceae--cabbage and relatives).

1972-1975 Research Geneticist, Great Basin Experimental Range, Intermountain Forest and Range Experiment Station, USDA Forest Service, Ephraim, UT

1975-1983 Research Geneticist, Shrub Sciences, Laboratory, Intermountain Forest and Range Experiment Station, USDA Forest Service, Provo, UT

1983-present Project Leader and Chief Research Geneticist, Shrub Sciences Laboratory, Rocky Mountain Research Station (Intermountain Research Station until 1997), USDA Forest Service, Provo, UT

1976-present, Adjunct Professor Department of Botany and Range Science, Brigham Young University, Provo, UT

Author of 350+ research papers, including journal articles, government serials, book chapters and symposium proceedings (contributor and compiler), and abstracts.
