The Gallatin National Forest administers 1,800,626 acres* of land. Forty percent of the total area administered by the Gallatin is in a reserved designation such as Wilderness. There were 283 FIA sample locations within the Gallatin National Forest, of which 223 locations were classified as forested, 52 locations were classified as either nonforest or water, and 8 were inaccessible or missed samples.
