This is the final year of this study, designed to estimate fire-specific, total suppression costs, based on cost records from all agencies involved in sampled fires and multiple linear regression models of cost per acre as a function of site-specific conditions.  The study is now about 90% complete.  FY 2002 will entail: 1) an extension of data and/or analysis to reflect a) wilderness designation, b) roadless designation, and c) Region 5 in terms of north-south and aircraft use; and 2) preparing two manuscripts for publication, one for the Western Journal of Applied Forestry and the other for Fire Management Today.
