Kurt Krueger is an information technology specialist with the Economic Aspects of Forest Management on Public Lands research work unit. He is a Packer Fan by birth and a Montanan by choice. He received a B.A. in information systems and design in 1975 from the University of Wisconsin. He began his Forest Service career in 1976 as a programmer with the Forest Products Laboratory in Madison, WI. After researching climbing and mountain biking as recreational activities as well as working in timber inventory, he started working full time on MAGIS (Multiple-resource Analysis and Geographic Information System) for the University of Montana in 1996. Several years later he joined the economics unit full time to work on PLATA (Project Level Analysis of Treatment Alternatives) and MAGIS.
