Research in fire economics suffers from a severe lack of consistent, complete, and accurate data.  To provide quality, timely responses to important wildland fire questions and issues, RMRS-RWU-4802 must maintain, update, and expand wildland fire economic databases and develop the long-term expertise to query and know the limits and opportunities of existing database systems.  The RWU will develop or arrange for access to databases as follows; 1) access to the NFMID database through the suite of standard queries; 2) develop a database of fire expenditure data for all P-codes and other fire-related codes, by fiscal year, region, and budget object code; and 3) develop a database of fire expenditure data by month and fiscal year, region, and work activity code.
