Studies focus on species' regeneration and colonization dynamics, physiological stress tolerance, carbon allocation patterns, spatial gradients in regeneration and environmental factors, and genetic structure.

	Develops and implements data analysis and modeling techniques for the assessment and prediction of population dynamics and spatial movement of multiple species of western bark beetle in the western United States. These models should provide infestation risk information to land managers as well as the extent to which such infestations may modify the risk and character of fires in the area.
