CFLR Program Frequently Asked Questions
Are there circumstances under which Forest Service land acquisition funds (LALW) would qualify for matching CFLR funds, such as the. acquisition of Threatened, Endangered, and Sensitive Species (TES) habitat, lands that if restored would contribute to healthy watersheds?
Forest Service land acquisition does not qualify for CFLR project matching funds. Acquisition of lands may be important to fulfill landscape strategy objectives, but it is not implementation of treatments to restore existing NFS lands. The matching funds have to cover 50% or more of the cost of carrying out restoration treatments on NFS lands. The CFLR Act is focused on acceleration of National Forest system lands restoration activities not acquisition of additional NFS lands.
