resources of the U.S. for outdoor recreation use, both publicly and privately owned.
Examine the availability of private rural lands for outdoor recreation
and the conditions under which access is permitted.
Describe recent trends and current participation in outdoor recreation
by region and across social groups.
Forecast future participation trends under widely accepted assumptions
about future population growth, changes in population makeup, and shifts in the
availability of recreation opportunities.
Describe recent trends, the current situation, and likely future
wilderness system designations, uses, and values.
Describe the publics perceptions and evaluations of recreation
opportunities in the U.S.
Interpret the implications of resource availability, demand, and other
trends for future resources management, policy, and research.
Include special articles about the current management of the National
Wilderness Preservation System and perspectives from user groups, industry, and
non-government organizations on outdoor recreation.
