The directives in force at the time the Guide for Preparing Research Scientist Position Description was written were Manual direction in effect November 22, 1995, and Forest Service Handbook Amendment No. 6109.1509502, effective November 22, 1995. The directives provide definitions and official Agency policy on requirements, processes, and procedures for classification of positions under the scientist career plan.  Attachment C of the Guide summarizes delegation of authority to personnel specialists for national panels. Users are cautioned to check the Forest Service Directives System periodically to verify that these versions are the most current versions of the manual and handbook.
