Current Research

Material characterization has not fundamentally changed since the first documented test by Leonardo da Vinci 500 years ago. The theme of this research is to elucidate mechanical response of materials by creating an environment that automates the characterization process by creating a mechatronic system which imposes multi-field and domain constraints controlled via feedback determined by an optimization algorithm needed to satisfy the data-driven environment required by the simulation based design.

Research Interests

  • Multi-field and multi-domain Modeling of Continuum Systems
  • Mechatronic Characterization of Bio-Composite Materials
  • Data-Driven Environments for Multiphysics Applications
  • Simulation-based Design
  • Industrialization of Research
