John works with the computer-related aspects of research in the Meteorology Project. This involves working with a variety of computers & operating systems (Windows 3.1/95/98/2000, DOS, Unix, etc.), computer programming (C/C++, Visual Basic, Fortran, SPlus, Unix shell scripting, Perl, etc.), retrieving, analyzing, & archiving data, and making data accessible over the Internet. He also participates in the statistical analysis of fire- & weather-related data. As chair of the Lab's Computer Committee, he also assists with design, implementation, & maintenance of the Labwide computers & network.
