Recreation is the fastest growing use of public lands. Our Landscape Architecture and Interpretation branch can help you put your best public face forward, ensuring visitors are welcomed and provided with the amenities, attractions and information they need to make their experience memorable.

Landscape Architects work to design innovative and aesthetically pleasing outdoor environments for people to enjoy, while making sure that changes to the natural environment are appropriate, sensitive and sustainable. Our Landscape Architects offer a wide variety of services from conceptual landscape designs to CAD-based construction drawings. Beyond design, other services include NEPA visual quality analyses, COR contract preparation and administration, technical reports, public meeting facilitation and interdisciplinary team management.

Interpretive Services

Interpretation facilitates a connection between the visitor and the resource. A meaningful link is forged through a dynamic combination of words and images that convey relevant themes and information. Our skilled interpretive planners help you focus your message while our designers present it in an effective and attractive format.

Agua Fria National Monument (AFNM) Interpretive Plan

Administered by the BLM, AFNM, located in northern Arizona, contains rich archeological resources. The plan for interpretation of this “living laboratory” highlights ongoing scientific study and targets the virtual visitor as well as those on site. Recreation Solutions developed rich, distinctive, visual interpretation that rests lightly on the land and captures the flavor of 14th Century occupation.

Cleveland National Forest Interpretive Signs

High in the mountains above San Diego, a pullout just below Mt Palomar highlights vistas both near and far as well as the story of chaparral fire ecology. Interpretive signage at this site features historic photographs of the construction of Mt Palomar.

Nez Perce National Historic Trail Exhibit

Events of the summer of 1877 forever altered the Nez Perce people. After 5 months on the move, staying ahead of US Cavalry, a final battle in northern Montana left the Nez Perce imprisoned and scattered. This exhibit tells the story of what happened after the Battle of Bear Paw. Recreation Solutions interpretive team has over 15 years of experience in cultural and historic interpretation.
