Forest Supervisor Thomas Schmidt is accepting comments on the Sturgis Land Exchange Project . The preferred alternative is Alternative 2. The project proposes to exchange 50.1 acres of federally owned land in Alger County, Michigan, being part of the NE¼ of the SW¼ and part of the SE¼ of the NW¼ of Section 33, T44N-R19W, for 40 acres of privately owned land in Alger County, Michigan, being the NW¼ of the SW¼ of Section 16, T46N-R21W.
