Recreational Activities

Pleasure driving is a popular activity on the White Mountain National Forest, especially during the autumn foliage season. Roads are busy with both tourists and thru traffic, so remember to drive defensively. If you want a closer look t a beautiful view, take time to pull safely off the road and let other traffic pass. Be especially alert in the early and late day for wildlife crossing roads.

The Kancamagus Scenic Byway is considered on of the top fall-foliage trips in the world and is one of the most scenic routes through the White Mountains. Be sure to take the time to pull off the road and enjoy the hiking trails, waterfalls, and scenic overlooks along the road.
