Hiker / Visitor Alerts and Current Conditions
Important Notice: Vehicles have been parked in front of the Zealand Rd gate and have been ticketed. The winter parking lot is just east on Rte 302. Blocking forest road gates is prohibited.
Update: The Albany Covered Bridge has re-opened for foot traffic. It will remain closed to vehicular traffic for the Winter as part of the Passaconaway Road closure.
Forest Service snow rangers are now issuing regular avalanche advisories for Tuckerman and Huntington ravines. Be sure to read them and then recheck with rangers on the mountain.
WARNING: An Emergency Forest Supervisor Closure Order prohibits the transport or movement of any species and type of firewood originating outside of New Hampshire or Maine onto the White Mountain National Forest. Individuals discovered with such firewood will be in violation of the order and subject to written and/or oral warnings, tickets, and fines. The order is in response to the threat posed to forest resources by the Emerald Ash Borer and the Asian Longhorned Beetle See news release at right and More.

2011 marks the centennial of the Weeks Act, the legislation responsible for the creation of the White Mountain and other Eastern national forests. Plymouth (NH) State University is sponsoring a series of programs commemorating the event. More.
