Paddy Creek Recreation Area
Paddy Creek Recreation Area is nestled in a hollow along Paddy Creek, a major tributary to Big Piney River, ½ mile away. Paddy Creek flows year-round and is a crystal clear, wading creek with a few swimming holes. This is one of the most scenic areas on the Forest. Paddy Creek Trail offers several spectacular scenic overlooks. Located adjacent to the east boundary of the Paddy Creek Wilderness.
Area attractions:
Campground: 21 single sites, 2 double sites
each has a table, and fire ring. No drinking water; vault toilets are conveniently
located. A large mowed playing field is provided. Donations are appreciated.
Picnicking: 11 picnic sites open year-round.
No charge for day use, but donations are welcome.
Hiking: 1-mile Paddy Creek Trail. This area
is also a trailhead for 17-mile Big Piney Trail through Paddy Creek Wilderness.
Horses and foot traffic only; no motorized vehicles or bikes allowed in the
Wilderness. Link here to wilderness.net
Fishing: 1/4 mile trail to Big Piney River, shown above. Link at left for more information. No lifeguard on duty.
How to get here:
From Roby, MO take Hwy 17 north 1 miles; turn northeast onto County Road 7600, then go 2 miles south on Forest Road 220.
Open April 1; closes December 1.
