Trail Description:

From the trailhead, the trail follows a very rough Forest Road 275 in a gradual ascent to Little Pond. In half a mile, a power line is reached where there are views to the east and west. After passing an old campsite, the trail passes a junction with a snowmobile trail and continues on to another “junction”, an old turn around. Here the trail heads right, for about 200 yards down to the pond. Longer hikes can be made, by heading southwest from the turn around junction. This footpath, a little less traveled, connects to the Appalachian/Long Trail in about a ½ mile. From there the AT/LT heads south (left) to Porcupine Lookout in about 1.0 mile, or heads north (right) to Little Pond Lookout in about 1.0 mile and Little Pond Mountain in another 0.5 miles. Nice views are attained at any of these vantage points. Please practice Leave No Trace ethics, such as carry out what you carry in.
